RAS "Early Looks" - Week 4 - Two Plays
Air Force at BYU (-9) - 12:00pm Pacific - Game #321-322
I am still high on BYU despite their 1-2 record. Both losses came on the road vs quality opponents UCLA and Tulsa, they suffered bad breaks in each, and they fought to the end to lose by small margins on both occasions. First year starting QB Max Hall has already surpassed all expectations with his stellar play, toughness, and leadership. Hall is completing 60.3% of his passes and has thrown for 1,216 yards in just three games. The offense also features two bruising running backs and a physical offensive line. Former MWC freshman of the year WR Austin Collie has returned from two year Mission to emerge as the go to receiver. After two fine performances the BYU defense took a licking vs Tulsa last week, but I expect them to bounce back well at home as they match up much better with the Air Force offense, having held them to 229 total yards a season ago. Air Force is coming off a huge Thursday night win over TCU in which they trailed by 14 points in the 4th quarter before some fortunate big plays enabled them to force overtime and kick a game winning field goal. The Falcons finished just 3 of 14 on 3rd down conversions and only had 166 total yards through the first three quarters. This is somewhat of a sandwich game for Air Force as they will look to avenge four straight losses and bring back the Commander-In-Chief trophy at Navy the following week. BYU has won seven straight (6-1 ATS) at home. It is homecoming week for the Cougars and this is their conference opener. If that is not enough motivation, Air Force's 3-0 record is sure to get their attention. Give the points.

RAS Early Look: BYU -9   1/2 UNIT
Miami Ohio at Colorado (-12.5) - 12:30pm Pacific - Game #317-318
The Buffaloes have a "get well" game here before the start of Big 12 play. After an impressive season opening win vs Colorado State, the Buffaloes have run into buzzsaw's the past two weeks at Arizona State and vs Florida State. In last game they actually had more total yards and 11 more first downs than the Seminoles but finished -2 in turnovers and missed two field goals in a 10 point loss. The Buffs defense has played well enough to win and projected starting MLB Michael Sipili is expected to return from a 3 game suspension this week. Offensively, CU has struggled in last two games but are getting healthier as starting RB Hugh Charles (hamstring) and touted freshman playmaker WR Josh Smith (lung) each returned from injuries in last game and should be stronger this week. Freshman QB Cody Hawkins is still a bit green but is talented and a much better option than what they had at the position last year. Miami Ohio is coming off an embarrassing blowout loss to instate rival Cincinnati. The Redhawks suffered three more key injuries in the loss, replacement starting RB Andre Bratton, starting WR Dustin Woods, and starting DB Wendell Brunson. None of the three are likely to play at Colorado. They are already without starting RG Matt McKeown for the season after an injury in opening game, and star RB Brandon Murphy from an injury in week two. Leading tackler Joey Hudson played sparingly last week as he recovers from a knee injury of his own. To complicate matters, the team has a quarterback controversy and neither has been able to separate from the other. Expect Miami Ohio to pick up a paycheck and return home with a double digit loss. Give the points.
